7-DAYS INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP

Fundamentals of Structural Biology

Cryo-EM · X-ray Crystallography · NMR Spectroscopy

8June - 15 June 2026 | Virtual

About the Workshop

This workshop by Biosyntiya Solutions, in collaboration with BioNEST BHU and PractiCloud, is your gateway into the transformative world of structural biology.
We begin where every great journey does: the fundamentals. From the principles of structural biology to the classical techniques of X-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy, you’ll build a strong conceptual foundation that makes everything that follows not just learnable, but intuitive.
From there, we step into the modern era of Cryo-EM — one of the most powerful and rapidly evolving tools in the life sciences. You’ll explore the complete workflow: sample preparation and vitrification, cryo-TEM data collection and microscope handling, single particle analysis (SPA), and the basics of cryo-electron tomography (Cryo-ET). These are the very techniques at the heart of the 2017 Nobel Prize in Chemistry — and now, they’re within your reach.
The workshop culminates in the computational side of the field: image processing, particle picking, 3D reconstruction, structure modelling, and validation — giving you a truly end-to-end understanding of how molecular structures are determined and interpreted across disciplines. Participants will also benefit from live software demonstrations, including demo sessions on industry-standard tools such as nextPYP and RELION.
Guiding you through this journey is an exceptional scientific team drawn from leading institutions across India and the USA:

  • Dr. Venkata Prasad Dandey — University of Connecticut Health, USA
  • Dr. Arnab Chatterjee — IISc Bangalore, India
  • Dr. Ravi Koripella — Emory University, USA
  • Mr. Wyatt Peele — Johns Hopkins University, USA
  • Ms. Ananya Chatterjee — IISc Bangalore, India
  • Dr. Badrinath Dubey — IIT Dharwad, India
  • Dr. Vinay Kumar Golla — University of Virginia, USA
  • Dr. Rajesh Sonti — NIPER Hyderabad, India

Whether you’re a student, researcher, or biotech enthusiast, you’ll leave not just informed — but equipped.
